black maternity jumpsuits- splurge or save

Black is supposed to be slimming, but I don’t think that really matters when you’re hugely pregnant. I’ve been living in and loving black maternity jumpsuits for most of my pregnancy, and to be honest I have a few similar ones I’ve been wearing over and over and over again. Shameless outfit repeater, right here.

I have to say that I’ve found maternity dressing frustrating. So many styles are froufrou or infantile, and I’m having a baby, not dressing like one. I’ve been defaulting to simple lines, sleek silhouettes, and mature colors so that I can feel fab rather than frumpy, and I’ve always loved wearing black.

I also have been a little blown away by just how spendy chic maternity clothes can be. I’ve always had expensive taste, and have noticed it more so now than ever. This Hatch maternity jumpsuit is on the pricier side, but I feel like I’ve worn it enough, dressed up and down, to get my wear-per value. I wore it several times on our European babymoon- with gingham heels and my Gucci belt out in Montmartre, with avarcas to museum hop, and with adidas and a cropped jean jacket for an afternoon of shopping.

And let’s be real- feeling good when you’re the size of a house is priceless, even for me. That said, I know not everyone is down for the maternity jumpsuit splurge, so I wanted to share some alternate options.

This wrap jersey number looks sleek, feels like pajamas, fits true to size, and is under $100. I’ve been wearing it at least once a week lately! I also have this wide-legged one, which was a screaming deal!
