While we were in New York, though it was for Fall Fashion Week, the weather was unseasonably hot. Since it felt like midsummer, we wanted to take as much advantage of it as we could. So one morning, instead of heading straight to fashion shows, we walked to a little bakery, and made our way into Central Park and to the boathouse.
The boat rentals are just $20 hourly, but cash only. We walked up, paid, and got onto the bright green water quickly. The metal boat was hot in the sunshine, but the fresh air was lovely.
I wore one of my favorite Topshop playsuits this morning- I’m an absolute sucker for anything off-the-shoulder. I have to shield my unicorn hair from the sun, lest it fade, so a hat is my go-to.. Ankle booties were a must for stability- I’m clumsy! And I piled on arm candy, a choker, double pearls, and mostly wore my Chanel crossbody for safety.
I’ll own that I’m pretty unathletic, and David did the majority of the rowing while I enjoyed the view- do you blame me? I directed, people watched, ate and fed him bites while he rowed.
We even made a little turtle friend as we paddled through the park.
I’ve mentioned before that concrete jungles can sometimes overstimulate me, and NYFW was a whirlwind like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Some downtime in the sunshine was so restorative and refreshing.
We wandered the long way through Central Park on the way out, stopping at the Alice statue for a moment. It was a childhood favorite for me when visiting the park, and felt nostalgic to be back there as an adult.
