I’m astonished about the date on this blog post. As I said over on Instagram, I’ve done a lot of things but NEVER HAVE I EVER✨ decorated for the holidays this early. We’re don’t even celebrate Christmas, so normally I decorate for Hanukkah after Thanksgiving at the beginning of December.
But it’s been a long year, and once I scored this mantel for a song on FB marketplace last week, I couldn’t help myself from wanting to bring all the cozy vibes with twinkly lights and winter whites.
Then I made a target run, where I found a full stash of these wooden houses in the dollar spot, and I crafted myself straight into a winter wonderland village with white puffy paint and chunky iridescent glitter. I had lots of bottle brushes and fairy lights from previous years, so worked those in too.
The sets of white mini houses keep going in and out of stock at target, so i found similar here. And if crafting and collecting are not your kinds of selfcare, I found a box set of preglittered houses and trees on Amazon that are great quality.
It took more garland than I anticipated to fill the mantel to my liking- it’s about 5 feet wide, and I like it generously draped. I used two each of the jingle bells and white-and-wood beaded garlands. The white beads are longer than average too. I tried a bunch of different kinds of command strips, and these ceiling hanger ones have the best shaped hooks for hanging garlands.
I’ve linked up all the winter village pretties for y’all.
Hanukkah is early this year, so I’ll be decorating the bookshelves and the rest of the house slowly over the next week or two- gonna stretch out the festive feels! Take a peek at my ‘winter decor’ highlight on insta for the play by play.
